Something that has held up for me across half a dozen vendor exams, so it feels like an evergreen note rather than a trick:
Study the blueprint, not the course. Every serious certification publishes an exam guide with weighted domains. AWS SAA-C03 is 30% “Design Secure Architectures”; CISSP has eight domains with fixed weights; CompTIA publishes objective lists down to the bullet. If you map your notes to those weights, you stop over-studying the fun 10% domain and under-studying the boring 30% one.
Retrieval beats rereading. Timed mock exams are the cheapest form of spaced retrieval available, and the per-question explanation is where the actual learning happens - not the score at the top.
Track weakness by domain, not overall. A 72% overall hides whether you are evenly weak or catastrophically weak in one area. Only the second one fails you.
